Wildlife Program

Aiming to reduce or eliminate aircraft accidents derived from incidents with wildlife, the Perigo de Fauna Program aims at reducing the factors attractive to wildlife through internal and external actions to airports.

External articulations, involving the Public Administration, environmental authorities, civil aviation authorities, public prosecutors, communities surrounding airports and other actors participating in the theme, are examples of external activities developed by Infraero.

Several actions are implemented every day to ward off birds and species of local wildlife from critical areas within the areas of airports, through diagnostics developed by biologists hired to support the Endangered Wildlife Program, as well as by institutions contracted for this purpose.

Infraero signed an Agreement with the Technology Development Center - CDT / UnB – University of Brasília for evaluating and implementing actions to reduce the attractive factors of the fauna. Wildlife Management Plans are being developed in the ten busiest airports and the company's critical success of the program is being scientifically monitored by statistical tests, in order to identify the effectiveness of proposed actions.
