The increase of Brazilian competitiveness in face of the global market directly relates to increase in efficiency of its logistics activities. The Country, in general, presents high internal transportation and logistics operations cost, which evidences the constant need of actions that allow for reducing the “Brazil Cost” (generic expression used to describe the set of difficulties that increase cost of investment in Brazil, making its growth and development difficult).
The idea of implementing industrial airports in Brazil arose from a joint proposal from Infraero and the Federal Revenue Service of Brazil – SRF to change airport sites into option to foster and increase Brazilian exports. Inputs will be imported, incorporated to domestic components, and manufactured in these industrial plants, resulting then in finished products. This operation will be undertaken under Customs Warehouse Special Regimen in Imports and Export, governed by the SRF Normative Instruction no. 241, of 11/6/2002. The industrial airport system is a novelty in Brazil’s customs sector. It has computerized control, allowing agility and speed in goods clearance and inspection. Operationalization
