Civil works and investments
Infraero has an investment timetable to modernize and expand the capacity of airports that are directly related to the 12 host-cities of FIFA’s 2014 World Cup. These airports will receive a total investment of R$ 6.5 billion. Infraero will invest, out of this total, about R$ 6.1 billion. The remnant, around R$ 408 million, will be private sector investment derived from the concession process of the Sao Gonçalo do Amarante Airport in Natal (RN). The second and last stage of the Recife/Gilberto Freyre - Guararapes International Airport (PE).Connector works was completed in July 2011.
The Operational Modules of the Sao Paulo/Guarulhos – Governador Andre Franco Montoro International Airport (SP) and the Campinas/Viracopos International Airport (SP) were inaugurated in August. 2011 Currently, the following civil works are ongoing: ground leveling works for Passengers Terminal 3, the expansion and rehabilitation of the Runways system and implementation of the Remote Terminal (Phase 1) at the Sao Paulo/Guarulhos – Governador Andre Franco Montoro International Airport (SP); Rehabilitation works of Terminal 2 at the Rio de Janeiro/Galeao – Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport (RJ); Construction of Airplanes Ground Area and Runways in the Sao Gonçalo do Amarante Airport in Natal (RN); Implementation of the Operational Modules and Rehabilitation of Passengers Terminal at the Brasilia/Juscelino Kubitschek International Airport (DF); Rehabilitation of the Rio de Janeiro/Galeao – Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport (RJ) Cargo Terminal; Expansion of the Airplanes Ground Area of the Macapa/Alberto Alcolumbre International Airport (AP); Construction of a new Airplanes Ground Area of the Parnaiba/Prefeito Dr. João Silva Filho International Airport (PI); Expansion of the Cargo Terminal, Expansion of Runways and Airplanes Ground Area System, Runways and Taxing Lanes at Curitiba Airport (PR), and the construction of a new Cargo Terminal at the Porto Alegre Airport (RS).
It was invested R$ 645.5 million in 2010 and several undertakings were completed. Among completed civil works is the revitalization of the Terminal 2 at the Brasilia/Juscelino Kubitschek (DF) and at the Porto Alegre/Salgado Filho International Airport (RS); Rehabilition of sectors A, B, and C of the Terminal 1 at the Rio de Janeiro/Galeao International Airport (RJ); Expansion of the Parking area of the Confins/Tancredo Neves International Airport (MG); Implementation of Brasilia Airport Operational Module; Coverage of Passengers Terminal at the Macapa/Alberto Alcolumbre International Airport (AP); Runway expansion of the Parnaiba/Prefeito Dr. João Silva Filho International Airport (PI), in addition to the first stage of the boarding and disembarkation connector at the Recife/Gilberto Freyre - Guararapes International Airport (PE).
Infraero will invest R$ 7.1 billion during 2011-2014 in the World Cup host-cities’ airports and in the airports inserted in PAC 2. All these undertakings reflect Infraero’s commitment in modernizing and expand airports under its administration, giving them full capacity to serve the growing demand from the Brazilian air transportation sector.
